Adair Park
Adair Park is located southwest of downtown Atlanta. It's boundaries include Metropolitan Parkway, Lexington Avenue, The Norfolk Southern Railroad and Shelton Avenue.
Adair Park was first developed in the 1890's and primarily consists of Craftsman style bungalows. However, Folk Victorian, and Tudor Revival influences can also be found. It gets it's name from George Washington Adair whose Atlanta Real Estate Company became the largest developer of property in Atlanta before he died in 1889. His sons, George and Forrest, continued the company, and began selling lots in Adair Park in 1910. Actual Adair Park is divided into two sections. Adair Park II is located in the northern half and was developed on a previously industrial site. The first Adair Park is in the southern portion of the neighborhood. The southern section of the proposed beltline will cut through the edge of the Adair Park neighborhood.
