Druid Hills
Situated west of Midtown, Druid Hills was originally bordered by Ponce de Leon Avenue, Briarcliff Road, North Decatur Road and Lullwater Roads but in recent years has spread to encompass a slightly larger area.
One of Atlanta's first suburbs, Druid Hills was originally designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the same man who designed New York's Central Park and the grounds of the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina. The area was home to many of Atlanta's elite, including Coca-Cola's founder, Asa Candler. One of the neighborhood's claims to fame is that one of its homes was used in the Academy Award-winning film Driving Miss Daisy. The Druid Hills Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places. Druid Hills is also home to Emory University and Fernbank Science Center.
