Atlanta's first planned suburb, Inman Park was built in the 1900s and originally provided residential transportation downtown via trolley. The neighborhood was named for Edward H. Inman, owner of Atlanta's famed Swan House, located at the Atlanta History Center in Buckhead. In the early 1970s, this area became a focus of restorations, now home to streets lined with willow trees and authentic Victorian-style homes, complete with gazebos and scalloped awnings. Trendy lofts and flats as well as a variety of apartment and town home communities are under construction; new restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries recently opened. Little 5 is a diverse and unique community where everything from Rasa and Gothic to punk and earthy goes. Just two miles east of downtown, the area's main streets are Moreland and Euclid Avenues, which is where you'll find a variety of eclectic stores and restaurants. This is Atlanta's answer to New York's Greenwich Village and San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. It's eclectic dining, shopping, and artistic creativity offer a flavor unique to Atlanta.
