Kirkwood
Just 5 miles from downtown Atlanta, Kirkwood is a diverse neighborhood perfect for in-town living. Kirkwood lies between DeKalb Avenue to the north, Rogers Street/Montgomery Street to the west, Memorial Drive to the south and Mellrich Avenue/Winter Avenue to the east.
Kirkwood dates back to the 1870s and boasts a number of distinctive architectural style homes. Some of the largest older homes in Kirkwood were built in the Queen Anne, East Lake, Arts and Crafts, and Victorian Folk styles. Kirkwood also has many smaller homes typical of the post World War II era and a growing stock of new construction. Beginning in the 1980s, the neighborhood began to witness an influx of new residents interested in renovating the neighborhood's stock of historic housing. Today Kirkwood is a thriving neighborhood filled with renovated homes, condos, eclectic shops and restaurants.
